Liz & Richard’s Elegant Celebration aT NONSUCH MANSION
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that’s timeless, full of laughter, and set against the backdrop of a truly grand English mansion, let me introduce you to Liz and Richard’s unforgettable day at Nonsuch Mansion.
This was a wedding with all the right ingredients: sunshine, sentiment, and a whole lot of fun. From heartfelt speeches to an evening band performance featuring the bride and groom themselves, it was a celebration that felt deeply personal. Elegant without being too formal, joyful without trying too hard.
And yes, we were treated to golden hour light that photographers dream about.
Getting Ready at Nonsuch Mansion
Tucked away in the heart of Nonsuch Park in Surrey, Nonsuch Mansion is one of those rare venues that combines historic character with a relaxed, modern feel. It’s easy to see why Liz and Richard fell in love with it.
While I was with Richard in the morning, my second photographer captured the bridal preparations with Liz and her family. There was a calm, joyful energy in the room as Liz got ready in one of the mansion’s elegant suites. Her dress was timeless: tailored to perfection, simple and quietly stunning.
Having a second photographer meant we could cover both stories as they unfolded. It also gave us extra freedom later in the day, especially for the group shots, which my second photographer handled smoothly so we could keep everything relaxed and running to time.
Beautiful Details, Thoughtfully Done
Liz put so much care into every detail of the day. The flowers, designed by the incredibly talented Connie Vera Flowers, were romantic and natural.
The tables featured handmade touches from Liz herself, adding a personal layer that made the reception feel warm and inviting. When couples invest this much thought into the details, it shows. Guests feel it. And the camera does too.
Sunshine, Speeches, and Golden Hour Portraits
We couldn’t have asked for better weather. The sun poured in during the drinks reception, filling the grounds with that soft, golden light that makes everyone look like they belong in a magazine. Guests spilled out onto the lawn with cocktails in hand, enjoying garden games, blowing bubbles and even spotting a fox.
The speeches were some of the best I’ve heard - the perfect mix of humour and heart. There was real warmth in the room, and plenty of laughter throughout.
Later, we stepped away for some couple portraits just as the light hit that golden hour sweet spot. The grounds at Nonsuch Mansion gave us space to roam without feeling too posed. These are the photos that feel effortless. Quiet moments, just the two of them, in the kind of light you can’t fake.
A Proper Party, Featuring the Bride and Groom
As the sun set, the party truly began. After a first dance full of smiles, the band kicked into gear - and then came the twist. Liz and Richard joined for the evening performance with the band, to the absolute delight of their guests. It turned a great evening into something unforgettable.
The dancefloor was full, the energy was high, and the joy was real. This was one of those weddings where no one wanted the night to end.
A Final Word
Weddings like this are a reminder of what makes this work so special. Thoughtful details, genuine connection, and the kind of light that makes everything glow.
